Biography
Manfred Coenen studied veterinary medicine in Hannover and Munchen, Germany. His doctoral thesis was finished in 1978, his habilitation thesis in 1992. In 1996, he was appointed Professor for Animal Nutrition and Dietetics at the Veterinary High School of Hannover, and since 2005 he directs the Institute for Animal Nutrition, Nutrition Diseases and Dietetics of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Leipzig, Germany. His main research interests on horses are the digestibility of feedstuffs, the energy as well as the water and electrolyte metabolism.
